PCI Skanska designed a continuous batch liquid processing center to prepare infant formula for supply to a powder dryer. The prep facility included raw material receiving and bulk storage; liquid and dry materials mixing; oils addition; homogenization; pasteurization; and high pressure dryer feeding. The facility and processes were designed to meet both the owner's GMP and U.S. FDA requirements. All systems were design for continuous operation with parallel cleaning with the clean-in-place systems designed to be accomplished automatically without manual hook ups. PCI Skanska provided conceptual engineering, equipment, instrumentation and controls specifications, vendor qualification, pre-bid support, procurement support, construction documentation, facility design guidance and onsite construction support, start up and commissioning.
