During the summer of 2003, Deaconess Health Systems made plans to build Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Warrick County, Indiana, adjacent to the existing Deaconess Women's Hospital. Construction was required to be substantially complete by the end of 2005, with an opening scheduled for January 16, 2006. A plan was developed to meet early punchlist deadlines in certain areas, which allowed the owner to start moving in equipment early and begin training of the new staff in early December. As a result of this teamwork, a 400,224 square-foot, 116-bed hospital, heart medical office building, and medical office building were completed in 18 months. The facility opened for patients on January 16, 2006.
