Our history

The Skanska group began to operate in the Czech Republic in the 1950s, but the group itself goes back to the 19th century.

1953 establishment of company Zemstav – specialist in earthworks
1961 change of name to Inženýrské a průmyslové stavby and expansion of spectrum of trading
1991 creation of joint-stock company, 100% owner state  
1992 company privatised as part of coupon privatisation  
1998 change of name to IPS a.s.
2000 controlling interest in IPS a.s. gained by the company Skanska   
2001 change of name to IPS Skanska a.s.
2002 change of name to Skanska CZ a.s.
2008 change of structure from divisional to holding, group headed by Skanska CS a.s. one-hundred percent owner is Skanska AB with its headquarters in Sweden
2010 change of the organization of the company from a holding type to a division type structure – Skanska a.s., as a wholly owned entity of the Swedish company Skanska AB
